ReFreshing Life – After Trauma
Vince Colston, better known as Fresh The DJ, and his mother, Lisa Colston, have a story that embodies a mother’s fight and a son’s unbreakable spirit in the face of devastating trauma.
Two months before his 21st birthday,, Fresh’s life was irrevocably changed when he was hit by a car while riding his bike. The incident left him with a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), and doctors gave him only an 8% chance of survival. He spent months in a coma and faced an uncertain future.
Despite the odds, Fresh has shown a remarkable and relentless will to live. He has made incredible strides in his recovery, defying every expectation to walk, talk, and even relearn to DJ again. His journey is a powerful testament to the fact that while a TBI can change everything, it does not have to define the outcome.
While his progress is nothing short of miraculous, Fresh still lives with the daily reality of his injury. He is the living proof that recovery is a marathon, not a sprint, and that survivors continue to need support long after the initial crisis has passed. Lisa and Fresh reside in Los Angeles, California, but Lisa flies to Atlanta every single week because there is passion in her purpose. Her fierce love and tireless advocacy led to the creation of ReFresh Specialty Gym and a nonprofit Operation ReFresh, Inc.—a haven dedicated to providing specialized support for other young trauma survivors. Having personally navigated the difficult world of insurance and a lack of support, Lisa knows firsthand the struggles many families face.
This is more than just a story of a young man who defied the odds; it is a powerful call to action and a beacon of hope, showing what is possible with faith, fierce love, and a supportive community.
Your support will enable a haven where motivation, hope, and care can be found. No matter how small, contributions will make a significant difference. Together, let’s continue to show the world what FAITH and Perseverance can achieve.
Thanks in advance for your support
